Subscription

Here is a basic rundown of what you will see and be able to do on this “Subscriptions” tab of the account page:

See all associated subscription information – You will be shown any active or inactive subscriptions that are either automatically recurring or one-time payment type subscriptions.

Subscription information will include the following column headers:

Membership – this column will show the name of the subscription along with the subscriptions unique ID given by the gateway processor.

Subscription (Applicable to adoptive families/clients only. Expectant Mother accounts do not autorenew) – this column shows if the renewal status of the subscription (either enabled to rebill, paused, or stopped if the subscription has been cancelled). The billing terms of the subscription along with the next billing date will be showed if applicable.

An automatically recurring membership subscription does not need to be renewed manually as it will automatically renew each set billing cycle. If you would like to know when your subscription is going to automatically renew, please login to your Account page and navigate to the Subscriptions tab.

**IMPORTANT: If you do not want your subscription membership to autorenew at the start of the next billing cycle (meaning you want to cancel your membership when this current billing period ends, YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP BY GOING TO SUBSCRIPTIONS AND HIT CANCEL – OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE CHARGED BECAUSE

Active – this column will show one of two things, a green ‘Yes’, or a red ‘No’. ‘Yes’ means that the your subscription is active and that you will have access to protected content. ‘No’ means that your subscription is inactive and will not have access to protected content.

Created – shows the day the subscription was created.

Expires – shows when the subscription will expire if no new transaction is presented. So essentially, this is the expiration date of the current transaction that is activating the subscription. If this is a recurring subscription, the date here will update after each new billing.

Card Exp. – here you will see the expiration date of the your credit card. This column will be blank if the you signed up if your subscription price was free (this always applies to expectant mother messaging accounts)

An automatically recurring membership subscription does not need to be renewed manually as it will automatically renew each set billing cycle. If you would like to know when your subscription is going to automatically renew, please login to your Account page and navigate to the Subscriptions tab.

If you are seeing the the message, “ERROR: You have a problem with one or more of your subscriptions” above your subscription list, this can easily be fixed.

If you haven’t done so already, click “Subscriptions.” In the table where you membership subscription is listed, go all the way to the table cell on the  right and click “Update” and enter in the details of your credit card.

NOTE: Even free (trial or lifetime) or discounted membership subscriptions require valid credit card data. You will be charged based on the payment terms and amount you agreed to when you signed up for a membership with Adoption For My Child. If you have a free lifetime subscription, the credit card details must be entered as a formality, but no charges will be processed.

Manage Your AFMC Subscription(s)
On the far right of each subscription, the last column will present available options for your subscription. The options that you see will be conditional on either administrative settings or the current status of your subscription.

Each option is explained below:

Update – this option is conditional on the you having an active, automatically recurring subscription. Clicking this link will allow you to update your credit card information.

Change PlanClicking this will trigger the ‘Change Plan Pop-Up’ where you can easily upgrade or downgrade.

Pause –  clicking this will pause your subscription.

You can pause any automatically recurring subscription by following these basic steps:

    1. Login to your Account page
    2. Navigate to the Account page’s ‘Subscriptions’ tab.
    3. Find the subscription that needs to be paused.
    4. Click the ‘Pause’ link to the right of that subscription.
    5. Click ‘OK’ on the Pop-up after verifying the correct subscription has been selected.

To resume the subscription again, simply go through the same exact steps. You’ll notice that on step 4, the ‘Pause’ link will now be labeled ‘Resume’.

Resume – this option is conditional on whether you have paused an automatically recurring subscription. Clicking this will resume your subscription. It may take up to 24 hours for the new billing to fully process and update your subscription to active should the latest transaction already have expired.

Cancel – this option is conditional on you having an active, automatically recurring subscription – one-time payment type subscriptions will NOT have a cancel option because there is no future billing to avoid. Clicking this will cancel any future billings for the subscription. Important note: cancelling does NOT equal an inactive subscription. The subscription will only become inactive once all future billings have ended or been cancelled AND the last transaction associated with the subscription has expired.

Subscribe/Renew – these links can be used if you would like to repurchase a past membership. If your subscription is expired and has no other memberships active in the same upgrade path group, it will say Subscribe. If you can manually renew and it is not expired, it will say Renew.

When a user resumes before their current transaction has expired, they will be billed again on the same day that their subscription was initially setup and will not experience any lapse in access. However, if the user resumes after the current transaction expires, then they will be billed immediately on that day and all future billings will happen on that new day (the user will experience a lapse in access if they resume after their last transaction expired).

For example, if I pause my monthly subscription on the 15th, and it normally bills on the 1st of the month, and I then resume on the 20th, I will be billed again on the 1st. But, if I resume on the 3rd of the next month, I will be billed that day, and my new bill date will be every 3rd.

Subscription > Update – This option is conditional on the you having an active, automatically recurring subscription. Clicking this link will allow you to update your credit card information.

In this case, you have an automatically recurring subscription that has one or more completed payment(s), but that was not successfully billed at your last payment due date because of a lack of funds or expired credit card.

Similar to the above, you do not need to renew an automatically recurring subscription. Rather you should just go to your account page > Subscriptions tab > and click the “update” link there. Doing that will take you to a page where you’ll be able to update your payment details. After doing that, your subscriptions will usually renew in a few business days.

First and foremost – CONGRATS! That’s such great news and we are so happy for you.

Second – Yes, of course you may cancel your subscription at any time. Click the tab called “manage your membership subscription” for details on how to do this.

A few thoughts to consider before canceling your AFMC membership:

Many times our clients email to inform us they have matched with a potential expectant parent (We LOVE hearing this news!)…but please do not assume that we automatically know to cancel your subscription.

We hope and pray that your adoption situation will work out and that everything will go according to plan, however…sometimes they don’t. AFMC suggests PAUSING your subscription for now if you believe you have found a successful match and then formally cancel your membership once the adoption has successfully taken place. Pausing your membership will give you the opportunity save money (you won’t be charged your membership fee during this time) while you are forming your adoption plan with the expectant parent, and if sadly it does not work out, you can easily restart your subscription and reinstate your existing AFMC profile verses have to create a brand new one from scratch all over again.

We look forward to the day you say goodbye to us because hopefully that means you found your match. Your happiness and joy mean so much more to us than any money we make on our site. We ALWAYS want you to do what is best for you and your family even if that means canceling your account with us.
