We have been married since 2018 and have a 2-year-old son, named Gabriel, whom we adopted from the foster care system. The three of us enjoy traveling both near and far, taking our dogs for walks, spending quality time with family and friends, going to the zoo and science center, playing games, baking, swimming, and exploring. We cannot wait to have another child to not only do all of these activities with, but to also teach about the world and to grow alongside them.
Adam grew up in Minnesota, before going to school in Iowa. Adam's dad is a pastor and his mom is an administrator of a nursing home. Adam has one brother, a sister-in-law and a nephew. Family is extremely important, and games are a way to spend extra time with the family. Adam works as a special education teacher for students who are labeled as having "intellectual disabilities." The students that Adam works with may have autism, Down Syndrome, or other disabilities. They may also be non-verbal, wheelchair bound or have other medical needs.
Shawn grew up in Iowa, where he and Adam still reside. Shawn's father is a car salesman and his mother in a before and after school care site lead, as well as a daycare manager. He has one sister. Shawn works as a site lead for the before and after school care program. He loves being with the children and learning from them daily. He has worked in classrooms before for students with intellectual disabilities and students in the general education population. Additionally, he managed a daycare, where we met Gabriel.
