- New York -
When we met, we knew right away it was something special! We've been married for four years, together for eight. Scott grew up in NY (he has two college-age kids) and Katy grew up in London, England. We now live in a pretty town north of New York City, and own a local coffee shop. We’ve always wanted to be parents together. We know that adoption takes a lot of strength and courage on all sides, and we're open to whatever level of openness you're comfortable with.
Scott talking about Katy: Katy has always wanted to be a mom and I know she’ll be an amazing one (she's already a great stepmom to my college-age kids!). She's caring, calm, patient, organized, thoughtful, and a great listener. She also has a beautiful English accent! You can always count on her. She has a close circle of friends who always turn to her for empathy and good advice. She loves to travel, read, and learn, and her favorite things are practising yoga and being outside in nature. She adores her nieces and nephews in London, England, and can't wait to welcome a little one into our home.
Katy talking about Scott: Scott is kind, funny, honest, curious, creative, and hard working. He has a way of making me laugh and making it all ok, even when it’s not! He is very family-oriented, and an awesome Dad to his daughter (21), and his son (18). He cares deeply about people, and wants to leave the world a better place than he found it. He is very active and loves to keep fit. He loves to learn, and always wants to understand things so he can make them better. He doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff and wants to figure out the puzzle of life, however hard it is.
Dear Expectant Mom – we know that life is sometimes messy and hard to predict. We’re honest about the ups and downs, and we know it’s okay to make mistakes because we’re always there for one another.
We love without conditions and we always support each other, no matter what happens. We will always do the same for your child.
We promise to provide a safe and supportive home, filled with love and laughter. We’ll read bedtime stories, give lots of hugs, help with homework, listen when things are tough, and help them to find what makes them happy.
We promise they will always know their story and know how loved they are.
Let’s talk about what level of openness makes you comfortable.
Thank you for considering us.
Katy & Scott
Scott has a lot of experience parenting, as he has two kids (aged 21 and 18) from his previous marriage.
We know children need to feel safe – safe to mess up, to try new things, safe to be themselves. And they need to know how loved they are, no matter what else is going on for the family.
We also believe that your job as a parent is to equip your kids to thrive in the world. As much as you want to protect them and make sure they never face tough times, you have to help them to be strong, resilient and to become independent.
We live in a pretty town, north of New York City. The river is close by, and there are parks, nature trails, playgrounds, local shops and community activities to explore all year round, on bike or by foot. There are great schools nearby and lots of young families. Our apartment is modern and spacious, and is part of a complex with a gym, an outdoor swimming pool, and a nature trail.
