Hello! We are Tyler and Heather. We are fun loving family from Northern Utah looking to add another one to our family. Our hearts are forever grateful for adoption as it has played a huge part in our family. Tyler is adopted as well as our youngest. We look forward to you getting to know us better.
My name is Tyler. I grew up in Washington where it rains almost every day. I was raised in a home with a mother and father. I have great siblings that I treasure. Our family was built through adoption. My older brother, myself, and my sister were all adopted as newborns. We all have different birth mothers and all came from different circumstances. I treasure many family traditions. For example every year we went to the same pumpkin patch to get pumpkins to carve Jack o-lanterns, we also went to that same farm every year to cut our own Christmas tree. Family is the single most important thing in my life. I believe that true happiness can only come from and through the family. I love being a dad and to take my wife and kids camping, hiking, and continuing/ adding family traditions.
Hi, I'm Heather. I grew up in Utah and love it here. People describe me as a fun, silly, bubbly, genuine person. I love kids and being around them, which led me to get my masters in school counseling. I have one sister, who is adopted, and we are best friends. I love being a mom and having a house full of kids. I love to make them laugh and be silly. "Smile and be happy" and "always do your best" are my mottos for life. I hope that I am the mom that my kids can come to when they have questions and needs. Family is everything to me.
Dear Expectant Family,
First, we just wanted to wish you the very best as you make this very important decision in your life, with whatever you chose. You’re decision will be what it right for you and your child. We hope you will find the peace and assurance you need as you make these courageous decisions. We also want to thank you for taking the time to get to know our little family.
Adoption has changed our lives so much and we are so happy that there are wonderful people out there who are willing to explore adoption. We have so much love and respect for those expectant mothers and their birth families. Here’s just a little fun fact about both our families, they have both been touched tremendously through the power of adoption. Tyler and his two siblings are adopted from different families, Heather’s sister is also adopted, and our little Nathan is adopted. We feel we will be able to help this child understand and know the love you have for them and why you made this courageous decision.
We will talk and let your baby know as much about the adoption that you would like us to. We would love an open adoption and look forward to talking with you.
You are probably thinking to yourself, they already have three kids, why would they do adoption now? Well, even before we were married we knew that adoption would someday come into play and was something we knew we both wanted to do. We feel that our family is not complete and our final piece is waiting for us. When we talked about having kids we knew in our hearts that we were to have 4 kids, and adoption was going to be a part of building our family.
Lastly, we want you to know that we cannot even comprehend the emotions and challenges that you are facing, but we want you to know that we are there for you and we love you. We want you to know that although we have never met, we pray for you daily, and are here for you during this time. We have so much respect for all you are trying to do in your life and for considering adoption as a parenting choice for your baby.
With all our love,
Tyler, Heather, Kyle, Sami, and Nate
We want our children to want to come to us and trust us. While we want to be friends and do fun things with them, they still have to know that we are their parents and that we do have rules and expectations of them. We believe in talking things out and in natural consequences. We do not believe in corporal punishment and will never lay a hand on our children.
We live in a suburb north of Salt Lake City. Close enough that we can get to the things we need but far enough that we don’t have to deal with the traffic, sound, and other things that come with city living. We live in a cul-de-sac so there is no traffic and not a lot of cars. Our kids are able to ride bikes, play games, and be outside while being safe.
Our home has plenty of room! We have enough bedroom that they are able to have their own rooms, or share if that is what they would like. We also have space in our home where we can be together and have our movie nights, play games, and have dinner together.
We are excited to see our backyard transform into what we want it to be. There are endless opportunities back there and can’t wait to see what we can do!
The baby will be staying in our room for the first 6 months or so and then we will be moving the baby to their own room.
We love animals! If our kids had their way we would have even more. However, we have reached our max for our home. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. We live in a fun area and have horses just down the street that the kids get to play with and visit when they like, that is fun!
It was love at first sight; well at least for one of us (Heather). We met in March of 2010, it took us ten minutes to realize that we were sitting across from each other waiting for the other one. After talking, Tyler walked Heather to her car and she knew that she was going to marry him, but sadly it took a little longer for Tyler to realize that. A couple of months went by and Tyler finally asked her out again, this was in May of 2010. In October we made our engagement official and in March of 2011 we got married in Salt Lake City. Some may say that we didn’t know each other for that long, but we knew that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
In August of 2013, after a year and a half of fertility meds we were lucky enough to add Kyle to our family. He is such a joy and full of life. Not long after that, in November of 2013 we found out we were pregnant again.
In August of 2014 We added Samantha (Sami) to our family. She is a spitfire and full of life.
2018 hit and we knew out family was not complete… we were missing something. After not being able to have a successful pregnancy, we knew adoption was where we needed to head. In January of 2019 Nathan was placed into our family.
We love animals and over the 11 years we have been together we have added two dogs and a cat.
Heather is a school counselor at a high school and loves it. Tyler works in IT. Kyle is in the 2nd grade and loves math. Sami is in 1st grade and is learning to read. Nate is a busy toddler who loves to explore. During the school year Nate gets to go to work with Heather and play in the childcare there. Heather is home with the kids every school break and all summer.
We love were we live. There is so much love here! We live in a wonderful area full of kids, parks, and plenty of space to be a kid.
We know that we are meant to have 4 kids and are excited to add another one to this crazy bunch!
We love to travel and take vacations! If we had all the money in the world, we would definitely use it to let our family see the world. It is important for us that our children get out there and experience different cultures and societies. Sadly, this year didn’t consist of any big adventures but we did spend a majority of our summer in the mountains. One of our favorite places is the Oregon Coast. Heather’s family has been going there since before she was born. Every couple of years Heather’s dads family rent a huge beach house right on the coast and the whole family (her grandma, her dad, and her dad’s siblings with their families) all spend a week there. We love to be on the beach and go crabbing! The kids favorite adventure so far has been Legoland and they are begging to go back. Hopefully within the next coupe of years we will be able to. We also love to be in nature and in the mountains. We love to go camping and spend as much time as we can during the summer camping with our dogs. Our goal is to one day have our own tent trailer. We love to go on cruises, we hope to one day be able to take the kids on a cruise. It is so fun to be on the water and see so many different places. We are so excited to add another little one to our adventures and to show them our favorite places and find new ones to include them in.
