I have been exploring family profiles for weeks on multiple platforms. AFMC provided more options for connections than the other platforms I was viewing. AFMC has an option where you send them your specific request and they will send family that meet that request. Choosing that option was surprisingly much easier for me and eliminate families that didn’t meet my requirements. I found that the profile content was very informative which gave me a better view of the family and they lifestyle each presented. On a positive note, it was hard to choose because there were so many great families that presented profiles for me to review. I chose a family that from a visual stand point, I would have never picked, but because they took the time to send their profile, and a personal letter, I took the time to view and read. After reading and viewing the content they provided in their profile, I knew I needed to contact them. Thanks AFMC for allowing this service for all mothers considering adoption. Much easier than dealing with an agency.

To the amazing families that display their personal journey for expectant mothers like myself to view, you too are brave. Thank you for sharing your stories and families with me. It was an honor getting to know each of your families on a more personal level.

To the mothers choosing adoption – Don’t allow anyone or any service make this decision for you. Choosing adoption for your child is your choice, and so is choosing the right family. Don’t settle for what others think you need, it’s your choice.

Amy, Thank you for providing this option for woman. It allowed me space to explore my options. This option also gave me a scene of peace that I wasn’t ignoring families that continually messaged with their desperate plea for me to choose them. That may be something to consider posting for families. One platform I was using allowed families to message me after I reached out to them. Which is completely fine, but some families abused this by messaging repeatedly which made them look desperate and a little crazy. It made me feel like prey. You have amazing clients and I really like the platform and program you have put together.

Making an Adoption Plan – a message from a Birth Mom

If you are considering making an adoption plan, you have come to the right place.

I was an expectant mom and now a birth mom, I didn’t give up my baby, I made an adoption plan with AFMC who provided me with all of my options. I was scared to death, which by the way is totally normal. I was scared of the unknown of adoption. I had no clue what to do, or who to trust. I searched online and looked at many site to give me some kind of understanding of the process. I wanted to ask questions, and didn’t want to be judged for exploring my options. AFMC provided resources and referred me to councilors that actually listened and helped me with all the option available. I remember what I was told when I reached out to AFMC. This is YOUR child, YOUR journey and YOUR decision. Don’t let others make choices for you. Explore all options and discuss them with your counselor.

Making the call to explore my options was scary, but it was the best decision I have ever made. After speaking with the options counselor, I decided adoption was the right path for me.

I was the one in control of my pregnancy journey. Placing a child for adoption is a huge sacrifice and takes courage and so much love.

Experiencing an unplanned pregnancy is overwhelming. Sorting through the options of adoption, abortion, or parenting is also overwhelming, but realizing I wasn’t alone changed my life. You will have the chance to create your own story that is only yours.

I was able to choose the type of family I wanted and even had several to choose from. I spoke with three different families and knew immediately which family was “my family”. Don’t let others chose for you.

Although we did not match through adoptionformychild in the end, we had an amazing experience with this service. Amy and Kylie are always on the ball, constantly working to improve their website and communication with their clients. We came by a lot of different lawyers and services through our adoption journey and I have to say with complete certainty that these two were some of the nicest. It seemed they understood our need for prompt communication and were always encouraging even during the hardest situations. They also actively try to combat scams so that none of their clients feel alone in the process. I truly believe that if we were in a different state (because NJ laws are a lot harder to work with) we would have matched sooner with adoptionformychild. Birth Mom (KR) – Testimony

As for my pregnancy and my babies adoption, everything‘s going great with her. She’s growing and thriving here.

I will say my pregnancy was very hard, I had no emotional attachment to my pregnancy I’m not afraid to admit that. My body was on survival mode and luckily I was able to survive the situation as well as give her a life I choose an adoption.

I will say that during my pregnancy I received no prenatal care I didn’t go to the doctors at all, I didn’t know how far along I was in my pregnancy. I would drowned out the pain I was dealing with with alcohol and different drugs.

I know it was not the right thing to do for her now, but during that time it was the right thing to do for me. I’m not proud of that.

I chose to have a closed adoption, I didn’t want to visit my past at all. The family that I chose respected my decision and have shared pictures through Shutterfly with my old caseworker in case I ever decided I wanted to see her. I’ve never seen her pictures, but I do have the login and password to the account in case I decide to change my mind. I have asked how she is doing and I hear she is thriving and doing well.

I hope that this help someone out there who needs it. There’s always help I’ve learned that the hard way but I’m making the right changes for myself and I gave a better life to my daughter.

I have to say that I am extremely happy that I came upon AFMC. It’s because of them that I have my baby girl. I decided to pursue adoption after dealing with infertility issues that resulted in me having to get a hysterectomy. I was signed up with an adoption agency and wasn’t having any luck with birth mothers selecting me. Adopting as a single parent, I knew it would be tricky because most birth mothers prefer a married couple. So to help get my profile out their more I decided to research adoption profile sites to place my adoption profile on and I found AFMC. I filled out everything and submitted my profile and once accepted submitted my profile to birth mothers who didn’t mind having a single mother for their child. I was with AFMC for a few months (2-3) when I decided to take a chance and submit to a birth mother who was looking for adoptive parents asap even thou I was single not thinking anything would come of it. A month later I saw a missed called from Amy and called her back immediately. She excitedly told me to pack my bags because the birth mother picked me. Amy told me that I was the only single parent to apply and out of all the profiles I was the one her and her family felt a connection with. I was totally blown away and in shock (in a happy way). Amy made sure I was connected to the adoption lawyers and that I was updated on everything. Everything happened pretty fast after that call. The birth mother was suppose to have the baby the following week, but ended up going into labor and having her that weekend. So in a matter of 3 days I was chosen by a birth mother and became a mother myself at the same time. It happened so fast it took me a while (couple weeks to month) to fully processed and believe I was finally a mom. I cannot thank AFMC enough for helping me with my dream of becoming a mother and I’m now blessed with a healthy happy daughter who is now 4 months old. When the time comes for me to adopt again, I will definitely be using AFMC again.

I cant say enough wonderful things about these amazing ladies. We have been working with an agency for close to two years with no matches so I thought it would be helpful to get ourself out there more with Adoption for my child. Kylie built us a beautiful profile I mean wow! We sent our profile out to quite a few situations with nothing really. So we kept praying and praying, and we were actually matched through our agency finally and accepted our situation with them. Within a few days Amy reached out to tell me we were matched with Adoption for my child. I wish we had found them years ago, within a matter of a few short months they matched us even though we had just matched 3 days prior with our agency. My wife and I had the privilege to be chosen by an expectant mother who was due in just 2 weeks – yikes!We had been working with Adoption STAR and had not been profiled and I felt some type of way.I signed up with Adoptimist and almost immediately a women named Amy Senior messaged me about a baby whose parents were trans/non-binary and in a polyamorous triad and she felt based on my Adoptimist I might be open to this situation. It did not work out as both my wife and I are Latina and were specifically hoping to adopt a child of color. I felt so seen in being contacted for a situation that had components to it that many prospective adoptive parents might not understand and have judgement about.So I made a profile with Adoptin For My Child and immediate started receiving “situations”. My wife and I submitted to be profiled for about 3 of them. And then I get THE email.
A situation was sent of Amy and Kylie with Adoption For My Child and they reached to me urgently about the situation as the expectant mother wanted a Latina/o family and were open to all family configurations. She also lived in California and while I no longer live there, my entire family does. The kicker was, the EM was viewing the profiles in just a few hours.

Amy and Kylie went out of their way to gather and send all my stuff to the EM to view and called me to say we were a tentative match. Amy stayed by me through the whole process which was beyond what she was required to do. They did not get big money from me but gave me big and loving support.

We FaceTimed with the EM that Friday and had a sweet conversation. Signed the paperwork on Monday (lawyer). And got a text: my water busted!

I made it to California Tuesday morning and the EM handed me the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.

Working with Amy and AFMC has been such a game changer for me. I’m adopting as a single mom and sometimes that can feel really scary. You have to make all these huge decisions by yourself that, quite literally, will influence the rest of your life. I had been working with a local agency who is professional and experienced, if not a little short staffed. They were very helpful through the home study approval process. But, once I was approved and my profile was listed, I was mostly on my own. Months would go by without hearing from them, and it often felt like they had just forgotten me. I am sure it was simply a function of their size and available staff. But, it felt lonely and deflating.I originally signed up with AFMC as a way to share my adoption profile more widely. The cost was nominal compared to other profile marketing sites. What I didn’t realize, is that the profile marketing is really only the tip of the iceberg.Amy is more like an experienced friend walking beside you through the process. She checks in personally to see how things are going because she’s been in your shoes and how it feels to wait, Amy makes sure you never feel like you are waiting in the dark. When your profile is shared in an available situation, she keeps you posted and lets you know when a family is chosen so you are never left wondering. I was approved and my profile went live with my agency in June, with very little engagement or activity beyond that. I joined AFMC in late November and was matched with an expectant mother in mid-February.
Since being matched, Amy has helped me through every step. Including helping me to build a friendship with the expectant mother who chose me. I honestly am just so grateful for all of Amy’s help, time, and attention. I look forward to staying in touch after the adoption is finalized. And, if I am able to adopt again, she will be my first call.
