Becky & Kyle

– South Dakota –

Introduction

Kyle is a fourth-generation farmer and a talented musician. He even serenades us with concerts of his original songs from time to time. Becky is a college dean and teacher who has enjoyed participating in humanitarian projects in the U.S. and throughout Latin America. She is passionate about empowering people to attain their greatest potential and forges lasting relationships with many of her students. We love animals and spending time outdoors. We’re just as happy staying in and snuggling up for a movie or a book as we are spending a night downtown enjoying live music, food and friends on a summer evening. Becoming parents has been the greatest adventure of our lives and we can’t wait to expand our family through adoption!

About Becky

Becky is thoughtful, sassy, and kind hearted; I am the luckiest man in the world to have her as my partner in life. Becky lives life to the fullest and has introduced me to the joys of new foods, travel, community service and more. Her passion shows greatly in how she cares for our son. She is constantly searching the horizon making sure that we are providing the best for our children. It is very important to her that we inspire both educational and creative passions and arranges play dates with kids from all backgrounds. Becky favors finding toys that are thought provoking and stimulating, or adding to our son’s book collection on a regular basis.

About Kyle

Kyle is the most thoughtful and loving person I know. He works hard to ensure the family farm is well-cared for, and he tirelessly invests himself as a husband and father. Kyle is smart and funny —a combination that leads to a lot of laughter in our house! Kyle is a great cook and tries new recipes all the time. I admire how patient he is with us. He’s never in too much of a hurry for a hug, and he can make you feel loved from across the room with his warm smile and a knowing wink. Kyle is very handy and is able to fix things around our home. He refinished my grandfather’s old desk and dresser in the hopes that we can soon use them in a nursery.

Our Home

We live on a quiet cul-de-sac within a vibrant college town full of fun family focused activities. We savor weekends and evenings as family time. On any given evening you would find us eating together at the dinner table— preferably on our deck when the weather is nice. We enjoy trying new recipes and we go all out carrying on family recipes (and a few of our own) for the holidays. There are piles of children’s books in nearly every room of our house— there’s nothing quite like sharing a new story with a little one sitting upon your lap. On the weekends, you might find us playing or biking at the neighborhood park, discovering fascinating things at the local Children’s Museum, hiking at the nature park, or hanging out with the horses and cattle on the family farm.

Our Nursery

We had so much fun preparing the nursery! The "our little lamb" theme provided opportunities to include lots of soft, fluffy neutrals and animals in the design. My favorite room in the house, the nursery is relaxing, sweet, and ready to welcome a sweet baby as our son just graduated to a "big-boy" bedroom. The crib was a gift from Kyle's parents, the rocking horse was built for Becky by her dad when she was a child, and the furniture belonged to Becky's grandfather and has been refinished by Kyle. So much love and many prayers await your sweet baby.

Our Pets

We have two four-legged friends in our family. Boomer is an 11-year-old border collie who loves nothing more than to snuggle up to each of us. Cosmo is a 9-month-old golden doodle with a charming and playful energy. Both pups have been kind and gentle around our son. You can often find us in our backyard running around together. We also have horses at our farm and enjoy spending time with them. Whether in our backyard or at the farm, there’s lots of room to run and to play catch. It’s a great way to tucker everyone out!

Our Family

We’re blessed with loving family on both sides. Kyle’s parents live at the family farm and are the most wonderful Nana and Papa. Roly spends one day a week playing with Nana, Papa, and Daddy at the farm and can’t wait for his future sibling to join him. Becky’s family lives in four states but are able to maintain strong connections. We use the geographical distance as a fun excuse for a family road trip, and her loving parents are great about visiting. Living grandparents on each side enrich our lives. They are beyond thrilled at the idea of welcoming another great-grandchild into our family!

Our Traditions

A big loving family will surround your child as they grow up. Your child will have a kind and protective big brother, four rambunctious cousins under the age of five, five aunts and uncles to spoil them, the best grandparents a child could ask for and four amazing great grandparents to tell them all sorts of life secrets. Christmas Eve with Nana and Papa means church service followed by oyster stew (Norwegian tradition) and gifts. Christmas Eve with Granddaddy and Granny means homemade waffles with hot chocolate and gifts, and of course, leaving a plate full of carrots and cookies for Rudolf and his friends. Two cups of hugs and 3 cups of kisses go into every handmade birthday cake. We love snuggling up for fun books too!
