Gordon & Heidi

– Washington –

Introduction

We have been married for six years. We both had attended the same high school, but at different times. Many years after high school a mutual friend and pastor suggested Gordon give Heidi a call. The first date went well and the rest is history. We have two boys, Dominic (13) and Maverick (3). We have been licensed foster parents for almost 3 years. As foster parents we have learned to love and support families in very difficult situations. We believe the more people that can love and support children and their families the better.

We love to be outside as a family hiking, biking, and traveling. Summer evenings are spent outside barbecuing and playing games. During the winter months we like to stay active cross country skiing or using the high school gym for games.

About Gordon

Gordon loves sports! He loves playing them, coaching them, reading and studying about them. Gordon has coached girls high school basketball at our local high school for 5 years. He also stays home with our 3 year old, Maverick. As a step-dad to Dominic, Gordon took it very serious. He read lots of books, talked to other step-dads and did his research on how to be the best dad he could be. He is a very involved and loving dad to both boys. Gordon served in the US Army for 3 years. Gordon loves to travel and he is the planner of the family.

About Heidi

Heidi was a single mom to Dominic for 4 years, until she met Gordon. Heidi loves the outdoors, especially running. Heidi's son Dominic has started joining her on jogs in the neighborhood, while they push Maverick in the stroller. Heidi has run 8 marathons, and that was made possible by a lot of support from Gordon and Heidi's parents. Heidi volunteers with an organization called Young Lives, which is an outreach for support to teen moms in her area. Heidi enjoys spending time with these moms and babies and supporting them in motherhood.

Our Home

We recently moved into a three bedroom home, we have turned the office into a baby room. It happens to be the biggest room out of the kid rooms. We live in a quiet neighborhood with big sidewalks. Our backyard is fully fenced and we are excited about getting a swing set. Our kitchen, living, and tv room are all open and connected. We like to be all together with each other when we are home.

Our Family

We love to spend time together as a family traveling, playing games, and watching movies. Heidi has an older brother and her parents live in the same town as us. Gordon is an only child and his parents live further away but we see them a few times a year. Each set of grandparents are very involved with their grandchildren. Our family really loves Disneyland, we have been multiple times. Gordon and Dominic are big fans of roller coasters.

Our Traditions

We love family and we love holidays. We gather together with family for all the major holidays. Many of the holidays are spent around food. We enjoy cooking together and finding new recipes. As we have fostered children from different nationalities we have enjoyed exploring and learning about new holidays and traditions that are important to them.
