SARAH & TIMOTHY

– Wisconsin –

Introduction

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to introduce our family to you. We are Sarah and Tim and are parents to Beau (12) and Gigi (7).

Our community is small and safe and is noted for its natural beauty; it’s located about 30 mins. from our state capital. We benefit from the rural, peaceful nature of our town, while still being close enough to the advantages of city living.

We tend to embrace the simple things that make family special like creating traditions that we can each look forward to throughout the year, while nurturing creativity, imagination, and curiosity. We are passionate about kindness and encouraging that in our children. We talk about politics and history and discuss how to make the world a happier, more equitable place for all.

About SARAH

I work in international education at a local university. I advise students and visit classrooms to teach them about Latin America. I also organize lectures and events with people from countries like Mexico, Spain, Paraguay, Cuba, and more.

I am passionate about volunteering and have been a board member of our local chapter of the United Nations for ten years. I try to encourage our kids to "give back" and volunteer, too.

I love to travel, learn new things, organize parties, and practice yoga. I am goofy with a good sense of humor. I am affectionate and loyal.

I hope to open my own tea house in the woods some day, so I thought I'd share a photo of myself drinking one of my favorite beverages!

About TIMOTHY

Tim is a small business owner and a landscape architect. He works from home in a cottage in our backyard. His love of nature and artistic flair have beautified our backyard and the yards of hundreds of other families!

He volunteers an immense amount of time to our community. Throughout the year, he coaches, football, basketball, and baseball. Last summer he coached our son's baseball team and our daughter's t-ball team!

He always strives to focus on good sportsmanship and is very supportive of all the kids -- he is especially good with those who are a bit shy and need some extra encouragement.

He is fiercely loyal to his friends and family and is a man that can feel and show his emotions openly. He has many hobbies including fishing, gardening, beekeeping, tinkering, and building. Oh, and he's funny!

Our Home

We live in a small community (about 3,500 people) that is noted for its natural beauty (bluffs, lakes, & hiking abound); it's located about 30 minutes away from our state capital. We benefit from the rural, peaceful nature of our town, while still being close to all the city has to offer. Our community is very safe and the schools are fantastic. Our home was built before the Civil War and has lots of quirks and personality! It has a beautiful three-season porch that looks out over the bluffs. We have an enormous backyard that I like to call "enchanted" because it's very private even though we live three blocks from town! We have some really great neighbors and friends that we socialize with and that we can count in if we need them.

Our Pets

We have several pets -- our dog, Penelope Picklebottoms (Penny) is an adorable pet from the Human Society. She's about 4 years old and the sweetest dog you could ever meet.

We have two ducks, Billie and Bobbie, that were born last spring. We recently discovered we have a boy and a girl, so it looks like ducklings and eggs are in our future!

Lastly, we have our beehives. Our beautiful bees provide us with honey which we give to friends and family each Christmas. We make lotions, beauty products and candles with our honey and beeswax! It's a great family hobby that we all have a role in helping with!

Our Family

Both of our parents have been married over 45 years. We each have one sister who is married. My sister has two boys and she and her family live in Texas. Tim's family lives very close to us and my folks live 2 hours away. In fact, they attend most of the kids' sports, concerts, and special school events. Gramma Barb babysat both of our children from the time they were infants until they began kindergarten. While our immediate families are small, our extended families are HUGE. We enjoy lots of family celebrations throughout the year, and between both sides of the family, our kids have have been blessed with 100+ first, second and third cousins!

Our Traditions

ST. PATRICK'S DAY is one of our favorite holidays and we like to dress up and go out for a traditional holiday meal!

Each year Sarah designs a t-shirt for Tim and the kids to celebrate FATHER'S DAY!

SUMMER means it's time for our town's agricultural fair...pickles-on-a-stick!...a visit to Devil's Lake State Park...and our annual outdoor movie night/BBQ.

We LOVE Halloween, so in OCTOBER we visit our local corn maze, decorate the house, carve pumpkins, and start getting cozy!

As the holiday season unfolds, Tim begins his epic Christmas decorating! He also works for a Christmas tree farm each year and the four of us cut down our tree!

We've been doing the matching Christmas pjs thing for years and we love a good Hallmark movie!

A little more about us...

Sarah's Gramma -- who is 91 -- is a big part of our lives. We spend as much time with her as possible and we all feel very grateful that she is still physically and mentally healthy. Here are a few photos of the kids with Great Gramma. She is an artist and we all love to paint! We have a yard full of beautiful flowers and a delicious vegetable garden each summer. Here is a photo of a bouquet of flowers from our backyard!
