Amanda & Derrick

– Wisconsin –

    Introduction

Even though we find it odd to try to market ourselves as parents over the internet, we are thankful for this opportunity to use technology to make the connection process easier. We are homestudy approved and are hoping to adopt a newborn, young child, or siblings. Our goal is to create a transparent and trusting relationship with expectant/birth parents. We genuinely can’t wait to learn more about you! We are fortunate that we both have deep connections with family and friends who have supported us and continue to support us. We are lucky that we found each other and are the better for it. Like everyone, we both have our weaknesses, but our strengths really offset each other’s imperfections.

We hope this profile gives you a good idea of our backgrounds, personalities, and what kind of parents we will be.

      About Amanda

Amanda is the impulsive, proactive, and adventurous half of the relationship. She wanted to be a million different things growing up, but mostly an archaeologist like Indiana Jones. She grew up in a small town outside of Madison, WI. Amanda’s family had an ever- changing collection of animals (dogs, cats, goats, chickens, pigs, sheep, even a peacock!). She always wanted to learn another language, so she decided to pursue a degree in French with a focus on African studies. After her freshman year of college, she spent 2 months living in Senegal. After college, she worked in Haiti for 3 months after the earthquake. She currently is self employed as a freelance translator, which allows her to work from home and set her own schedule. After becoming a mom, she plans on decreasing her work to be able to stay at home with the kids.

Her guilty pleasures are Chick Fil A, pizza, Bravo reality shows, and anything related to the Bachelor.

Derrick is the generous, understanding, and patient half of the relationship. Always interested in science, he wanted to be a weatherman when he was a kid. He grew up in a small town about 30 minutes north of Madison, WI. He played many sports growing up, including baseball, basketball, and football. He went to college in the beautiful town of Lacrosse, WI, majoring in

          Building Our Family Through Adoption

          Our Letter To You

          Dear expectant mother,

We are so pleased that you would consider us as the adoptive parents of your child. Over the past year, we have had two failed adoptions. But we are still hopeful that the right match is out there waiting for us!
We are unable to have biological children due to a uterine abnormality. This condition, a rare birth defect, makes getting pregnant extremely risky and with little chance of success. Many people experience grief through infertility, but we have not. We are so excited to adopt and are very thankful for a lot of things – that we have a solid relationship, a cozy home, a great circle of family and friends, and good health.

In or free time we like to stay active, work on projects around the house or yard, spend time outdoors, or get together with friends and family. We also enjoy relaxing on the couch and watching movies or TV shows together. We enjoy going out to eat at the many amazing restaurants in our area, but most of the time we like to cook at home and eat at the table together.
We try to live simply, stay productive, and appreciate that things that really matter in life.

If you chose us to be your child’s adoptive parents, he or she will become part of a fun and caring family. You will always be an important part of our lives. As he or she grows up, we will encourage inquisitiveness, embracing both biological and adoptive backgrounds. We are open to maintaining any type of contact in the future.
We have a solid marriage, financial security, a nice home, and wonderful pets. We are so ready to be parents and can’t wait to welcome a child into our lives!

          Our Parenting Style

We are blessed to have both our families living nearby, and they are all very excited to shower a new child with love and support! We are also lucky to have many life-long friends who also live close to us. All our friends currently have little children, and we can’t wait to add one of our own into the group. We get together regularly with our family and friends for outings, meals, and parties.
We both have so many interests and can’t wait to support our child in whatever interests he or she chooses to pursue. Whether it be sports, dance, music, science, etc., we will encourage our child to pursue his or her passions. We value spending time outdoors, even in winter! We think fresh air and learning about nature is so valuable for every age. We can’t wait to show our child to appreciate the great outdoors through camping, hiking, and gardening!

We don’t want to live life too fast. We think being too busy causes many families to feel stressed and have strained relationships with one another. Amanda works part time from home, so our family will not be overwhelmed by both parents working full time out of the house. Derrick’s job is also extremely flexible. Having the time and energy to come together for home-cooked meals each day is very important to us!

We try to live simply, stay productive, and appreciate the things that really matter. We do not believe in yelling, controlling, or belittling children. We plant on being firm parents, but always patient, understanding, and kind. Our main values that we hope to pass down to our children are being humble, honest, and respectful. We strongly believe in leading by example.
