Melissa & Becky

– Minnesota –

Introduction

Our relationship began as a great friendship in 2004. God’s timing is amazing, and five years ago our friendship became a lifelong commitment based on love, trust, and mutual respect. We complement each other well and genuinely enjoy being together. We love to go on adventures, to travel, and to do anything active outside! We also look forward to nights spent hanging out at home, cooking dinner together, hanging with our pups, and watching movies. We both work in a university setting and are able to impact young adults on a daily basis. We both were raised with a very strong faith and a strong sense of core values. We treat people with respect and love and value differences and inclusivity.

Our Letter To You

We have been sitting here wadding up paper for an hour trying to compose a letter we feel is worthy of your time and captures who we are and why we want to be on this journey with you. Writing this letter to someone whose face and heart we haven’t yet known, whose life we know nothing about yet hope beyond anything to truly get to know and love, is scary but, more than that, humbling. We are humbled by your selflessness. Humbled by your heart. Humbled by the decisions you are making. Regardless of whether you choose us or not, we will always respect you and value you more than we can say in words. We want you to know that we will be here to support you and will not only give everything inside of us to your child but to you as well. We want to provide your child with love and compassion as well as opportunities and life experiences that will shape who they become.

We have traveled to amazing places, and we have had special moments with those we love most, but none of these experiences are quite complete because we yearn for a little one to love, protect, teach, empower, and make new memories with. We are surrounded by an amazing support system of friends and family that are eager to be a part of this child’s life.

Thank you for reading these words from our hearts. We appreciate you and the love, selflessness, and compassion you are showing this beautiful child.

Our Parenting Style

Our parenting style will be based on love not fear. We will never use corporal punishment. We will use mistakes as learning lessons. We will use our parents own example in how they parented as we parent. We will use age appropriate privilege loss. We hope to be an example everyday for our children…in teaching kindness and inclusivity.

Our Story

Our Story

OUR HOME

Our home is comfortable and full of love. We live in an established neighborhood with big yards and big trees. Our neighborhood is very diverse, and we have great relationships with our neighbors. It is not uncommon to see children outside shooting hoops or riding their bikes. We live a few blocks from a nice park and a community pool as well as an elementary school. We are within minutes of downtown, lakes, and waterfalls.

OUR FAMILY

The thing we are probably most proud of in our lives is our family. We are without a doubt so blessed by not only our incredible parents and siblings but cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Melissa’s parents and two younger sisters all live in Texas. Aside from the distance, she could not be closer to all her family. They visit often, and we have an annual family vacation we all look forward to. Her greatest joy is her four nieces. Her favorite hashtag is #ilovemyniecestopieces. She comes from a very musical family, and her best memories are family Christmas Eve celebrations sitting around the fire singing as well as everyone running in a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning.

Becky’s parents and her older brother and his wife and two kids all live in South Carolina. We make it a priority to see them two or three times a year. Some of her best memories are spending family Thanksgivings and Christmases at her grandparents’ house. Even though distance separates us, we all remain connected thanks to the convenience of technology. FaceTime and daily phone calls keep us in constant communication, and one of the things we look forward to most is the time we get to spend together.

OUR PETS

We have two sweet little dogs—Marlee and Nash—who are both rescues. We love our fur babies and enjoy taking them on walks and going to the park. They are equally excited to welcome a new brother or sister.
