Building Our Family Through Adoption

Our Letter To You

Dear Expectant Mother,

We are so grateful and honored that you’re considering us as the family for your baby. We can only imagine the emotions you are feeling during this time, and our prayers are with you as you continue forward through this very emotional season. You are strong and courageous, and we admire and respect your selflessness as you put together this adoption plan for your baby. While we can’t fully express our gratitude in words, we want to let you know what a gift your child will be to our family. We’ve always dreamed of having a big family that would adventure around the world together, build businesses together, and provide a haven of hospitality for all those we call family. Life at the Funk household is always full, with many outdoor explorations, summer cabin weeks, international travels, new real estate projects, and a focus on serving our community through our businesses and church involvement. Our home is known as an open door for family, friends, and neighbors, all of whom are an amazing group of people that will shower your baby with love. We are open to any relationship you desire to have with us and your child, and we will always tell him or her of the depth of love you have for your baby. It would be nothing short of a gift from God and the honor of our lives to raise your child as our own!

Our Parenting Style

We strive to create an environment that is filled with love, joy, and patience. We believe it takes a village to raise a family, and we are grateful to have a strong support system in our friends and family. We are affectionate and give lots of cuddles and positive reinforcement. Our goal is to teach our children to be kind, respectful, and caring to all those they meet.

Our Story

Our Story

We recently remodeled a charming historic home with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a newly fenced-in yard with a deck. We have amazing neighbors, many of whom have young kids. On any given night, you’ll see the children on bikes or scooters going down the sidewalk or drawing with sidewalk chalk. Almost everything is within walking distance, including grocery stores, restaurants, children’s bookstores, and baby music classes. The local music class is actually a favorite of Asher’s, along with the brand-new splash pad that Nicole takes Asher to weekly. Our golden-doodle, Quinzy, enjoys running free in the many parks and lakes in the area.

Our nursery has a big dresser, crib, a cozy reclining rocking chair, and a big fluffy area rug. We love books in our home, so there are children sized book shelves in the room that are easily accessible.

Chet’s family lives several hours away, but they visit regularly. The highlight of the year is when we spend a week at Chet’s family’s cabin with his parents, brother, sister-in-law (whom Nicole considers one of her closest friends), and their three sweet kids. Favorite traditions with Chet’s family are filling stockings to the brim at Christmas, making delicious cookies of all kinds, and playing a wide variety of games together.

Nicole’s parents live only twenty-five minutes away, and we get to see them weekly. Nicole has two brothers, one of whom lives nearby; her other brother and his wife live three hours away. Despite the distance, we all have a great relationship! Nicole grew up on a tree farm, and her grandpa still runs that farm to this day, which makes for a special tradition during Christmas. The state fair, apple orchards, and camping are also some big highlights with Nicole’s family.

We also consider our friends and neighbors to be family. We have dear friends from college that are actively a part of our lives. We enjoy weekly dinners, movie nights, Bible studies, and yearly cabin trips together, and we cannot wait to be joined by a new child!

We have a four year old goldendoodle named Quinzy who is great around children! Our son loves her, and those two will actually cuddle on the couch while reading a book or watching a show.
