Katie & Garrett

– Georgia –

Introduction

We’re Katie and Garrett! We met at church, dated for a little bit, ate a lot of pizza, fell in love, went on adventures, got married, bought a house, and got a dog, and now we’re looking to grow our family through adoption! We believe that life should always be filled with laughter, whether we’re doing laundry or singing in the car, and that’s what you’ll find us doing. We love our life together and can’t wait to add a baby into the fun!

Building Our Family Through Adoption

Our Letter To You

Dear Expectant Mama,

Thank you for considering us to love your baby. We want our future child to know that they are completely and totally loved, not just by us when we came into the picture but by you as well. We think children grow best when they know how deeply they are loved, and your reading this letter right now is evidence of how much you love this child.

We are so excited to bring a baby into our family and for the fun, memories, and joy that a baby will add. But more importantly, we are excited to bring a child into our bigger family: our heart people, our friends, and our extended family. Our families are so excited to join us in this journey of parenting. Your child will be loved by so many. We believe family means so much more than being related by blood, and our community will love this child like their own.

We promise to raise your child with love, adventure, grace, and encouragement. We would love for you, precious mama, to be a part of this family as well. If you so choose, we want to stay in contact with you and for your baby to know you and your family so he or she will be that much more loved.

We pray that you will find the right family for your child, whether it’s ours or not. Thank you for considering us to love your baby.

Our Parenting Style

We believe that kids learn best in a home filled with love, laughter, a little structure and a lot of grace. We all make mistakes, but it’s how we learn from those mistakes and grow from them that matter. We also know that we can’t do this parenting thing alone- it’s a really hard job! That’s why we try to surround ourselves with so many amazing people. We have been so lucky that we have not just amazing biological families but also so many friends that have become family. We like to call them our heart people. Because of them, we believe family is so much more than blood, and adoption just felt natural. Katie told her parents when she was a kid that she was going to adopt 10 babies. Garrett isn’t so sure about raising 10 babies, but obviously adoption has been on her heart for a long time. We hope that when people look at our family, they will see a home that looks a little bit like heaven. To us, that means babies of all backgrounds and races are all equally loved! We believe raising a child take a village, and that’s why we are so grateful for the people in our life!

Our Story

Our Story

We live in a three-bedroom historical home in one of the oldest towns in Georgia. We have a big yard and often play with the dog back there. We love being within walking distance of the town square, and you can find us walking up to read at the coffee shops, grab dinner, and shop the farmers’ market. There’s a park and pool around the corner, and we love to take the pup on walks to see the Antebellum-style homes. Our neighborhood is the kind of place where people hang out on their front porches to wave hello, and our neighbors are some of the kindest people. When we first moved in, they even offered to do our laundry for us. We love where we live!

We have a large extended family that we love spending time with, and we live within an hour of our siblings. We both grew up with two siblings each: two brothers for Katie and one brother and one sister for Garrett. Our baby will be loved by five cousins (and this number is growing!): three boys and two girls. They are thrilled to have another kid join the family.

We can’t forget the grandparents, Popo (Katie’s dad) and Granma (Garrett’s mom), who are both excited to spoil another grandbaby! Katie’s family loves going to Disney World annually and also spending time swimming in Popo’s pool. Garrett’s family loves cooking and eating big meals (the holidays are full of food!) and hanging out on Granma’s back porch.

We have one dog, Idgie, the most friendly (and most spoiled) Aussiepoo (that’s an Austrailian Shepherd/Poodle Mix) you will ever meet. At first, Katie wasn’t so sure she was a dog person, but Garrett wanted a dog desperately, so she gave in. After having Idgie for a few weeks, they were both in love, and she is one of their best buddies.
