My name is Mandy and I am 38 years old. I live in Tennessee, and work at a hospital as a Program Coordinator. I am fortunate to have a job that recognizes and appreciates my hard work and drive. I work a normal, 8-5 Monday-Friday job, which is very nice when planning for a family. I will be able to be home and have dinner with my child every night and will be able to read them a bedtime story before they go to sleep. I was raised in a very loving Christian home where I was taught to have high morals and values. I have a younger sister that is 16 months younger than me with Down Syndrome, who I have had to look out for since I was a child. I have been around children all of my life and have always dreamed of a family of my own. Although I am not currently married, I am open to marriage. I have waited until now to adopt because I really thought that I wanted to be married before I had children. However, I cannot wait any longer. I am ready to share my love and my home with a child! My family and friends are very supportive of the adoption. I know that I will be able to provide a strong and stable life for a child because of the wonderful network of people that I have been blessed with. A woman that I work with adopted a child from China, and I have seen how much fulfillment can come from raising a child.

Building My Family Through Adoption

My Letter to You

Dear Expectant Parent(s),

Thank you for considering adoption for your child and for considering me as a prospective parent. I realize and appreciate the sacrifice and strength that is required in this decision and understand it will not be an easy one.

My family and friends are very supportive of the adoption. I know that I will be able to provide a strong and stable life for a child because of the wonderful network of people that I have been blessed with. A woman that I work with adopted a child from China, and I have seen how much fulfillment can come from raising a child.

I have been financially blessed and feel that I will be able to provide many opportunities for a child. I have recently purchased my 2nd home since only having lived in Tennessee a little over 3 years. This home is brand new and I have the most beautiful nursery. I hope to fill it soon with the sound of laughter and joy that only a child can bring.

I plan on sharing the adoption story with the child when I feel they are mature enough to understand. I will explain that they are very special because they have two mommies, one that grew them in her tummy and another that grew them in her heart, so this means twice the love. Not only does this mean twice the love but twice the family and friends to love and care for them. I have already started working on building a network of other moms and families in my church, community, and neighborhood for support and social interaction.

I realize that this is a very important decision for you and I thank you again for considering me. I believe that God already knows where and with whom your baby is meant to be raised, and I pray that His guidance and blessing will be with you as you choose the perfect home for your child. I promise to provide a stable, safe, loving, and nurturing home filled with love and laughter. I promise to give our child a lifetime of unconditional love and support. I look forward to developing an open and honest relationship with you. I can’t wait to begin this journey with you!

My Parenting Style

My parenting style is right in the middle, kind of strict so the child doesn’t walk all over me/take advantage, but not like a drill sergeant yelling all the time either. I don’t think spanking is always the answer and have read books and attended classes about alternative measures that work just as well and don’t scare/traumatize the child as much

My Story

My Family

My parents and sister still live in MI and I moved to TN alone in late 2015. I have a great neighborhood, church and friends that are very supportive of my decision to adopt and have offered to help in any way possible.

My Pets

I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. Nola is a Calico cat, Trixie is a dilute calico (grey, white, orange) Reese is a shih tzu, 11 years old and Stormey is a catahoula leopard dog (BIG) that just turned a year old

My Nursery

The nursery has been set up and ready to go since I moved into my new home in Nov 2017. It is gender neutral with lots of browns and greens. I have cute framed pictures on the walls and all the “gear” the baby will need. I have been collecting things over the years in anticipation

My Home

My Personal Interests

My personal interests include entertaining friends and family, cooking, traveling, bowling, going to movies, dining out, and seeing concerts. I am usually involved in church activities and have served as a youth director, a vacation bible school teaching assistant, cooked meals for the homeless, made food baskets for the needy, and other various activities. I like to vacation at the beach because I love the warmth and sun. I look forward to traveling to many new places with a child; seeing things through the eyes of a child is so special and makes you really appreciate the little things in life.
