Building Our Family Through Adoption

Our Letter To You

It is impossible to describe in words how much love we have for a child that we have never met. It is equally difficult to describe how thankful we are that you are considering adoption for your child. We applaud your strength, selflessness, and commitment to find the perfect family for your baby. Are we that perfect family? Yes! We will instill good morals and values, teach him or her to be kind, respectful, and generous, and raise him or her to be a productive member of society.

Our Parenting Style

We share the same morals, values, and upbringing so our approach to parenting is very similar. We believe that actions speak louder than words and attempt to lead by example. Morning and bedtime routines are structured; however, there is a good bit of spontaneity thrown in throughout the day. Education is extremely important, but not solely isolated to the classroom. Exposure to opportunities and experiences are just as important since most people “learn by doing”. Obviously, there is no one specific manual on parenting and we are going to make mistakes. We have definitely received some on-the-job training as parents with most of that training coming from a preschooler. Fortunately, we are quick learners, have a strong support system, and parents who are excellent role models.

Our Story

We love to travel and will expose your child to different cultures throughout the country/world. There is much to learn about the world through actual experiences. Between us, we have traveled to five different continents and have visited a number of countries. Robyn has traveled to Morocco, Prague, Germany, Ireland, Costa Rica, Peru, and Italy amongst many other countries. During those trips, Robyn has rappelled, parasailed, zip lined through rain forests, snorkeled, and kissed the Blarney Stone. Tim has had the unique pleasure of doing business in China, where he has walked along the Great Wall of China. He has also enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii and Alaska. Robyn and Tim just returned from a trip to Malaysia and Vietnam. Deuce is three years old and has already visited five states and has three stamps in his passport. Your child will probably grow up watching and playing a number of sports since Tim played football at Penn State and is currently the head football coach at a local high school. We also own box seats to every home Penn State football game, 5 NFL season tickets, and belong to a country club with unlimited golf and an outdoor pool. We are both established in our chosen careers and have a lot of flexibility with our schedules.

Our Home

We love our community! It is a great place to raise a family! We live in a stone house with a slate roof in a community with very little traffic. On average, we may see 5 cars pass our house in an hour. We have a nice-sized home with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a sunk-in living room, eat-in kitchen, dining room, game room, and enclosed sun porch. Our property sits on approximately a quarter of an acre of land, which is perfect for sledding in the winter and a baseball or football game! We also have a flagstone patio where we love to grill. We are just a few miles from several parks, playgrounds, walking trails, tennis courts, basketball courts, an outdoor hockey rink, etc. Additionally, we live in an excellent school district that will provide our children with many educational opportunities.

We also own a townhome in State College, Pennsylvania. We love cheering on our favorite team – the Penn State Nittany Lions – in Beaver Stadium, so we spend a fair amount of time in that home during the fall. Behind our townhome there is a swing set and sand box and across the street there is a clubhouse with a pool and exercise room. We have made many wonderful family memories here and cannot wait to share the fun with another child!

Our Family

We have a very supportive extended family consisting of parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and a grandfather who can’t wait to meet our new bundle of joy! Both sides of our immediate family live within 40 miles of us so we see everyone often. Holidays are filled with lots of food, laughter, and general chaos with all of the little ones running around! Fortunately, we have a schedule for each holiday that enables us to visit both sides of the family without being rushed. For example, Robyn’s parents host Thanksgiving dinner the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Tim’s mother hosts dinner on Thanksgiving Day. We celebrate Christmas Day with Robyn’s side of the family and celebrate Christmas with Tim’s side of the family the following weekend. One of our favorite Christmas traditions on Robyn’s side of the family is opening bags full of fun gifts bought at garage sales throughout the year. A favorite tradition on Tim’s side of the family is picking a present out of a bag hoping to get the lucky one with a $50 bill inside of it! We are very blessed to belong to such a great combined family who we’re anxious to introduce to your child!
