Our Story

Our Home

Our house is 2-stories, with three bedrooms and a modern, open floor plan. The kitchen looks out into the great room, creating one large area, which is the heart of our home and where we spend most of our time when we’re indoors. This open layout allows us to share the same space even when we’re all doing different things, making it easy for our family to be together. We have a loft upstairs where we like to stretch out with a few board games on a rainy day, or settle into big, comfy chairs for family reading time. We live in a quiet and safe suburb which is known for its excellent schools, and our house is within walking distance of several parks, with playgrounds, athletic fields, and bike paths, as well as a library and community swimming pool.

Our Pets

We couldn’t tell you about our family without mentioning Max, our Jack Russell Terrier. Max is very social – he always wants to greet the people and other dogs we encounter on walks, and has proven to be good with children of all ages. Max loves to cuddle, and is happiest when snuggled up next to someone. He’s very smart, and learns new tricks and commands quickly – we have discovered that he will “show us” when he wants something by pointing at it, and has even figured out how to open closed doors (including a pocket door we have in our downstairs). Max will be a wonderful pet and playmate for the child that joins our family.

Our Family

We both grew up in loving homes with strong family values. We are fortunate to have all of our immediate family living in close proximity to us, so we are able to see and spend time with them often. Steve is the younger of two children and Amanda is the oldest of three. Each of our siblings also have kids, ranging in age from 5 months to 18 years.

Our families are very supportive of and excited about our decision to adopt. If you choose to entrust us with your child, he or she will be joining a family that is blessed with two sets of active and involved grandparents, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins who can’t wait to be a part of their life.

About Colin

Colin is 16 years old and recently finished the 10th grade. In addition to being very smart and inquisitive, he’s a problem-solver who enjoys video games, puzzles, and building or putting things together. Currently, his favorite items to construct are pieces from the Lego Creator Expert collection -particularly the sports cars.

Colin loves spending time with his cousins, and has proven to be both helpful and patient with the little ones. He is always willing to build a tower that can be knocked down or read a bedtime story, complete with different voices for each character. Although he claims to be allergic to changing diapers, Colin is looking forward to the many other aspects of having a younger sibling, and we know that he will be a wonderful big brother!
