My love for kids led me to be an elementary special education teacher as my first job. I felt such a strong connection to my students -- getting to know them and their families on a person level. My greatest joy was watching my students learn and grow and feel accepted in my class. I still work in education (in HR) and love it! In my free time I love to be active -- I have been a runner since I was 12 years old. I love the arts -- live music, theater, and museums! And I like to volunteer in the community -- especially if it involves kids!

When people first meet me, they might note that I am quiet and reserved, but the people who know me would describe me as funny, energetic, and dependable. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to stay calm in stressful situations, and remain hopeful and optimistic. My hobbies include dancing, cooking, hiking, video games, concerts, and traveling! I love to challenge myself and learn new skills, and I yearn to share my hobbies and interests with a child!

Building Our Family Through Adoption

Our Letter To You

From the beginning of our relationship, we knew that we wanted to grow our family and wanted to adopt. Adopting a child would be the greatest gift and continue us on our journey of love and joy.

We have enjoyed playing a role in the lives of our siblings, nieces, nephews, and little ones close to us. Through babysitting, diaper changes, teaching ABCs and so much more, our experiences have helped prepare us for this next step.

We hope whatever path you choose is full of support and love in the days and months ahead. You have our support and admiration for the courage it takes to make this decision for you and your baby.

We wanted you to know how much we admire your bravery and courage through this journey. We have so much love to give, and hope you can be a part of that, but above all, we will always honor your decision.

Our Parenting Style

We will always lead with love — we want our baby to know they are deeply loved and their needs will always be met be us.  We want to create an environment where they can learn and grow — balancing discipline and self-discovery in their journey of becoming the very best person they can be.

We believe in creating a structured environment to build foundational and necessary skills, while giving our child space to be a kid.  We are excited to expose our children to our likes and interests, and allowing them to learn from role models and friends in exploring other interests and hobbies. We want to create a space where our child can thrive and be themselves. They will always be accepted and loved in our home.

Our Story

Our Home

Our home is in a quiet neighborhood just outside of Washington, DC. It was very important to us that our house be in a neighborhood that had great schools and a diversity of cultures. Our home is within walking distance of the elementary school and two playgrounds.

Our house has a big yard and enclosed patio for lots of summer and winter fun. And plenty of space for family to stay when they visit. Our favorite room is the baby’s nursery — decorated with cute animals and everything our baby would ever need.

Our Nursery

We add new things to our nursery almost every day!  We are so ready — we worked together to build the crib, dresser, and changing table.  We love animals and nature so naturally chose friendly animals and weather related things as our theme (and still have so many pictures and designs to put up!).

We have diapers, wipes, lotion, burp cloths, blankets, bottles, binkies, and more clothes than any baby would ever need in their first year of life.  We are so excited to welcome this bundle of joy in our world and their nursery.

Our Pets

Both of our pets are senior and are super lovable. Rocko is the sweetest dog on the planet. He loves snuggles and many pets. Frazier loves treats (at any time) and lounging in the sun. Both of them love people (especially kids!) and cannot wait to welcome a baby into our home.

Our Family

We are very close to our family and friends and have a very large support system. We love spending the holidays with our families, and making everyone’s birthdays extra special. Our friends and family will be a big part of our future child’s life.

We are close to our parents and will have very active grandparents on both sides.  Grandma Judy considers being a grandma her number one job, and cannot wait to spoil our future baby with lots of love, cuddles, and toys!

We spend major holidays with our family, and our siblings have kids as well — lots of cousins and lots of love from both sides of our family.

As an interracial couple, we think it is important for our child to have a diversity of role models of different genders and races, and our diverse families will also give our child exposure to different people regularly.

Custom Section

We absolutely adore our 5 year-old nephew Rafael and have loved being a big part of his life. From introducing him to his favorite character Mario, to helping him learn his letters and numbers, we cannot get enough of him! Being so close to him has made us that much more excited to be Dads!
