Introduction

We are Jen and Seth from New York! We are home-study approved and financially stable with great careers in the arts! We have worked on Broadway, Off-Broadway, had our own theater for awhile, and now we're in senior positions at two big arts organizations. We love traveling, hiking, trying new restaurants, seeing live music, watching sports, and spending time with our little nieces and nephews. We have a big house with a big fenced in yard in the Hudson Valley of New York, with great schools and lots of family-friendly activities (like our summer-time ice cream shop, fantastic library, and lake access for swimming)! About Jen

Hello! A little about me! I was born in New York and moved to a few different states throughout my childhood, including Texas, Connecticut, and Virginia. I went to college in Chicago for technical theater (all the cool backstage stuff!) and moved to New York to get my Master's Degree in Performing Arts Management. This is where I met Seth and fell in love! My parents live in Texas and I visit them at least once a year. My brother and his wife live in Florida with our two nephews. My sister lives nearby and we hang out a lot! My favorite color is purple. I'm an Aquarius. I love hiking, biking, running, soccer, and anything on Bravo TV. I love playing with our little nieces and nephews and I can't wait to be a mom through adoption.

About Seth

I was born and raised in New York City. I've been a life long member of the arts community having trained to act, sing, direct and design. My parents raised us to be strong, responsible, independent, and ethical. The outdoors have always been a critical part of my life, my father is a nature photographer and took me out hiking with him often. The family always bonded around sports living on every play by the Mets, and Rangers. If I had not pursued the arts I definitely would have been a chef. I worked in several restaurants and learned from incredible chefs. Today I take great joy in cooking fresh delicious dishes at home and look forward many adventures and meals with Jen and our child.

Hello from Jen and Seth! Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We know you have a lot to think about right now and we are so thankful that you are considering us as adoptive parents for your adoption plan. We are open to all levels of openness in the process. We have been dreaming of having children ever since our second date. We, like many, encountered infertility as we tried to grow our family. We have always planned to add to our family through adoption at some point, and now we are so excited for the opportunity to create our full family through adoption. Our family-friendly careers in the arts provide us with many opportunities to travel and meet people from many diverse cultures and backgrounds and we will love and support a child (or children) of any race. We have a very close-knit group of family and friends who all support our vision for our family. We have a beautiful home and all the means necessary to give a child a fantastic life. We love the outdoors and travel, we love sports and live music of all kinds and look forward to sharing all of this and more with a child. We cannot wait to fill our home with Halloween costumes, camp outs in the backyard, and movie nights. A child raised by us will be well guided and well supported emotionally and spiritually, they will be taught honor, truth, responsibility, confidence and we will support every single one of their hopes and dreams. Our Parenting Style

Jen: I see myself as a parent who will be very loving, warm and affectionate. I love telling stories and encouraging imagination by playing with our little nieces and nephews on their level. I plan to share my interests in hiking, travel, sports, the arts and culture. I will provide and encourage close extended family interactions. Seth: I see myself as a parent who will make sure the child feels wanted and loved. I will build a close and loving relationship where the child feels safe talking about anything and sharing their feelings. I will be supportive, encouraging and someone who provides a variety of opportunities, including interactions with nature, travel, athletics and arts. I will make sure the child has a close family life including interactions with extended family members. Together, we have observed the parenting of and been involved in the raising of our nieces and nephews. As a couple, we will instill the values of right and wrong, to treat others with respect and kindness, honesty and to work hard for what they want. We will instill curiosity and provide a variety of academic, social and recreational opportunities supporting a child as they choose which interests to pursue. We will help the child experience and be open to other cultures and foods. We will set rules and standards for safe and proper interactions in an age appropriate manner. We will talk out any issues as they arise and work as a team to provide consistent parenting. We will utilize restrictions, time in or out and grounding as secondary disciplinary techniques. We do not believe in corporal punishment and we are keenly aware of the importance of providing a safe environment for any child. We can't wait to be parents and we thank you for considering us!
