Introduction

Hello! We are Asa and Krista. We have been married for almost 12 years and have two amazing children; John Luther and Lorna. We have known since the start that we wanted to adopt, and we feel that time is now. We are excited and hopeful to see the child that we will get to love and bring into our family and we thank you for considering us.

Hello! I am a joyful, hard working and energetic person. I love being silly with my kids and telling puns. I enjoy being outside in general, but really love hiking near waterfalls. When indoors, I like to bake (chocolate chip cookies are my favorite), read, and exercise. I have been a nurse for over 15 years and have performed many roles. Currently I am in the ICU and frequently train new staff. I enjoy sharing the knowledge and passion. I have felt called to adopt for many years and am excited to be able to add to our family.

About Asa (by Krista) - Asa is a faithful person. He works as an associate pastor at our church where he excitedly gets to preach and meet with people to go through God’s Word. He was previously a youth and children’s pastor, so he knows how to teach children well and gets excited when they ask questions about life. He is an exceptional father who spends his time at home with the kids on my workdays. He engages in activities like wrestling, reading to them every night, playing board games, and running around the house. He also teaches John Luther how to fix things around the house. Building models and playing tag are John Luther's favorite activities with him. As for Lorna, her favorite way to bond with him is by charmingly smiling to get him to do whatever she wants. One of the best things about him being a father is that he tells them that he loves them multiple times a day.

Building Our Family Through Adoption

Our Letter To You

Hello,

We are so grateful to see your heart to bring a new life into this world and that you have chosen the path of adoption. We are a traditional family and already have a 6 year old and 4 year old who have been longing for a younger sibling – our son even prays for this each night!

Should you choose us, we will respect whatever level of openness you desire, but know that you will always be honored in our home. You will be the heritage of this child, and we will be forever grateful to you for that. We know that you are making a difficult (and wonderful) decision, but we know that your child will forever loved in our home.

Our greatest thanks to you for considering adoption and getting to know us through our profile.

God Bless You,

Asa and Krista

Our Parenting Style

We desire that all of our children know they are loved unconditionally by us. But more than that, we want them to know that they are loved by God. We want them to understand that God had a plan for them that included joining our family and that they are adopted into our family just as we have been adopted into God’s family. We strive to parent our children with the same grace and love that Jesus offers to all of us. We believe that prayer is powerful, and we pray with and for our children every day. Our family is filled with love, and we would be honored to extend that love to your little one.

Family time is so important for us. We do not use daycare, so we already can have time during the day with our children. We prioritize family dinners. We even have “family movie nights” where we make popcorn and watch a movie. By emphasizing the significance of spending time together we can understand and support our children better. We use our normal day routines to teach them. For instance, I (Krista) teach the kids about cooking while I’m making dinner and Asa teaches them about tools while he fixes the sink.

We believe in continuous learning and strive to instill this in our kids. We give them patience and teach them to be patient with those around them and themselves. We encourage them in their strengths. We teach that life often doesn’t go how we expect, but that we can express our feelings and also find joy in dark times. Additionally, we promote respect for others as an essential virtue.

Our Story

Our Home

Our home is a traditional cape cod built in 1950 and has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. We bought the home in 2018 shortly before we welcomed our first kiddo into the world. Every year we do some sort of upgrade to the house. One of the best was adding central air conditioning!

Our home is comfortable and cozy. We have furniture that is constantly climbed on, and toys and books can be found in every room. We have a fenced-in yard full of large trees and space to run around. During the summer we set up splash pads and run around with our dog Leia. What we love most about our home is the large dining room that has a table Asa made, making it possible to host family and friends for meals or play tag running around it. We also enjoy the month of May when our rhododendron trees bloom.

Within a couple of blocks, we have multiple playgrounds, schools, and a community center where John Luther plays soccer. We are only an hour away from both the beach and the mountains and thirty minutes to good hiking and waterfalls. We also enjoy the many u-pick fruit farms in the summer and the flower festivals in the spring.

Our Pets

Our dog Leia was brought into our family in May 2023. We got her from a no-kill shelter, but she previously lived in Mexico. She likes to herd us when we play and she protects the children when she thinks things are getting too rowdy. We don’t know for sure what kind of dog she is, but we assume some cattle dog. She is patient with the kids and loves running around our back yard keeping the squirrels away.

Our Family

We are currently a family of four looking to become a family of five! The kids have been praying for a brother or a sister for some time now. We have a lot of fun, travel to new locations each year, and love time with our extended family (which is quite large).

Asa is thoughtful and reserved. Krista is joyful and effusive. John Luther is sweet and rambunctious, and Lorna is fiery and adventurous.
