About Sarah

Hi!

I'm a stepmom of 3 kiddos who loves to read, work out, hike with my dogs, lounge in my hammock, and help on our hobby farm. I love animals and really enjoy living in the country where I can add to our farm!

I'm almost done with my master degree in Food Safety - I'll graduate next Spring from Michigan State University.

My parents both lost their lives to cancer so my family is small but close. My sister's family is about 3 hours away, while my brother's family is in Oregon. They're expecting a girl in June - first baby in our family!

I'm outgoing, always laughing, and enjoy spending time with my friends. I like almost all music, concerts, true crime, and traveling.

I can't wait to share my life with your child and become a mom!

About Kurt

Hi!

I have three wonderful kids, two in high school and one in middle school. Some of my favorite things with the kids include game nights, helping with homework, drawing contests, and just hanging out and being silly.

I am a bit of a 'jack of all trades' - I used to work painting and repairing cars, in the Army reserves my role is a train conductor, and I do the majority of the equipment and animal work on the hobby farm.

Other hobbies of mine include woodworking (including a 4-poster rustic log bed) and staying active - like Sarah, I enjoy bike riding, kayaking and canoeing, hiking, hunting, 4-wheeling, basically being outside.

I can't wait to share a child with Sarah and want to experience the journey of parenthood with her.

Can't wait to meet you!

Our Home

Our home and hobby farm is located in the ‘Driftless’ region of Wisconsin, the Southwest corner where the glaciers didn’t travel, the landscape is gorgeous, dotted with ridges and valleys. Our land has a small stream that runs through it, and the local area is well known for trout stream fishing.

We live outside of a few small towns in the country. Our rural home is wonderful for the dogs and animals, and allow all sorts of outside activities (like relaxing in the hammock, having a bonfire, or playing yard games) as well as more room for future animal additions.

We’ve been continually renovating our home - its 150 years old so thankfully Kurt is very handy! We redid the kitchen, living room, stairs, and upstairs by ourselves! We're currently repainting the outside, adding shutters, and a porch!

Our Nursery

The nursery is actually fully set-up and stocked, diapers, wipes, and all, because we experienced a failed adoption match weeks before the March 2020 due date of a baby boy.

Our nursery is sloth themed, with a hint of Harry Potter, of course. Originally chosen for it's gender neutral aspects, the sloth nursery is so stinkin cute! Everyone likes to gift stuffed sloths so baby will have plenty of sloth buddies to cuddle. As someone who loves books myself, I'm always buying books for the nursery so baby will have plenty to choose from, including sloth themed books too.

Our Pets

We live on a hobby farm with beef cattle, sheep, goats, cats, dogs, and poultry.

We have two dogs, Ralph, a black lab, and Eleanor, a great dane, who go everywhere with us and the kids. We have one inside cat, Claire, and two outside cats to patrol the farm.

Ralph is 11 years old, loves cheese and the water, and was adopted from a Minneapolis shelter when Sarah lived in the Twin Cities. She's had Ralph for over 10 years.

Eleanor is 5 years old and done growing. She's the biggest sweetheart who would rather sleep on her favorite chair than go into the snow or water, but she loves her brother and follows him loyally.

They both love following us around inside and outside, and greeting all visitors, loudly. :)

Our Family

Andrew, Kayla, and Violet spend every other week with us. They enjoy 4-wheeling around our land, visiting grandparents nearby, and snap-chatting silly pictures back and forth. We love bonfires, kayaking, game and movie nights as a family, and they are even pretty good about helping out with the inside chores.

Andrew is 17, works at a local hardware store, and drives. He has his own cattle in our herd and helps out around the farm, bringing his girlfriend down for 4-wheeling and bonfires. Kayla is 15, loves photography, baking, and spends her summers babysitting. She'll soon get her drivers permit-yikes! Violet is 12 and enjoys watching Tik Tok videos, drawing, and helping her sister babysit.

We visit with Sarah's family a few times a year as they're pretty spread out, but see Kurt's family weekly as they all live nearby.

Our Traditions

Every year around Christmas, Kurt takes the kids to the Christmas Train to watch the show. They've been doing this for years, and even though it gets quite cold, they all enjoy this time together.

We also enjoy vacationing in Northern Wisconsin and are looking forward to purchasing our first lake home in the next few years.

Sarah loves the fair and every year gets the family out to the local county fair for food, rides, and to check out all the exhibits.

We love going to Packer and Badger football games, trying to get to at least one game a year with friends or family.

With the kids, we focus on nightly family dinners and bonding time with games or paint nights. When the kids are with us, we spend as much time as we can with them.
